DRIVER Owners 410 car #92: Keith & Diane Arellano Crew Chief Crew
Home Town: Auburn, CA Andy was destined to be a racecar driver, his mom, Dianne, went into labor with him on June 19, 1976 while watching his dad, Richard, race at, the famous, West Capital Speedway in West Sacramento, CA. The next morning, June 20th, Andy was born and the second generation Forsberg driver was on his way. Andy never drove any type of racecar or quarter midget growing up, it was not really in the family budget to have both Andy and Richard racing at the same time. By the time Andy was fourteen he began sneaking into the pits. Back in the early '90's you had to be sixteen to get into the pits. Andy would pack track for his dad and occasionally hot lap the car, so by June 20, 1992 he was somewhat ready for his 16th birthday and his first career sprint car start. This start came at the Ernie Purcell Speedway in Grass Valley, CA. Andy got up to speed fairly quickly. By his third race, Andy timed in 13th quick out of 30 cars at the 4th of July race in Grass Valley. In the first two years, 1992 and 1993, of Andy's driving career, he only ran 15 races as his, Richard, was also racing. Andy would go weeks in between races. By the end of the '93 season Richard could tell that Andy wasn't going to get better unless he drove every week. The '94 season saw Richard step aside and Andy take on the full time driving duties for the family owned team. In 1997 won his first career main event at the Placerville Speedway in Placerville, CA. The win came with Andy beating two Placerville legend's of the 90's, Ray Rust and Glen Boune. The 2000 season was a breakout year for Andy. Midway thru the year Andy would meet his eventual wife Candace at a N.S.T. speed week race at Southern Oregon Speedway in Medford, OR. Candace would eventually move from Oregon to California and they married on October 13, 2007. By the end of the 2000 Season, Andy had won his first two championships of his career. He won the Placerville Speedway Track Championship and also the traveling Civil War Series Championship. Andy owns a finishing shop where he stains and lacquers cabinets for local cabinet shops around the Auburn area. During the off-season Andy loves to go snowmobiling and race go-carts on his race track behind the race shop. For complete career statistics, please check out the History and Stat's page. Keith and Diane Arellano, of A & A Stepping Stone mfg inc., started sponsoring Andy in 1995. The first year they were just getting their feet wet by buying fuel. Each year they got a little more interested and involved. By 2000 they bought an entire car and 410ci motor so Andy could race 410's on Friday's at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, CA and could still race the Forsberg Family 360ci sprint car on Saturday's. In 2002 they bought a new truck and trailer for Andy to use and in 2005 they basically took over as full time car owners, as Richard and Andy combined all their parts and equipment with Keith and Diane's parts and equipment. At that time the 92 started racing under the A & A Motorsports banner.
In 2006 the A & A team won the Chico Track Championship and the Civil War Championship. The team would back up the Civil War Championship in 2007. This would be Andy's 4th Civil War Title overall. 2008 would see the team win their 2nd Chico 410ci Championship.
The 2010 season will see Keith and Diane, A & A Motorsports, field a 410ci car once again for Andy to run approximately twenty races throughout the year.
[ Top ] Home Town: Auburn, CA Richard Forsberg has been involved in racing
since early 1960. As a youngster he would help his neighbor Ralph Clay
with his hard top. This is the car that The early 70's he spent racing super modifieds on the pavement at All American Speedway in Roseville, CA. During the mid to late 70's he raced super modifieds on dirt at West Capitol Speedway in West Sacramento, CA. In 1980, Richard would run his first Sprint Car race with NARC and would compete in that series until 1986. During the '86 season the Forsberg family could no longer afford to run 410's any longer, so in 1988 when Grass Valley started a cast iron 360ci division, Richard built a 360ci and won the very first night out. He continued to race 360's until the 1993 season, moving aside for his son Andy to take over full time in1994. Winning races his entire career from hard tops to super modifieds to winged and non-winged 410's and at the end of his driving days in a winged 360 where he still won two main events in his final year of driving. Richard is still a big part of Forsberg Racing, taking care of the cars during the week and goes to every one of Andy's races throughout the year. [ Top ] Home
Town: Antelope, CA Mike Proschold has been with the Forsberg Racing Team since 1978 back when Andy's dad Richard was racing super modifieds at West Capitol Speedway in Sacramento, CA. Mike does all of the engine maintenance on the cars each week, he is also very good at fabricating parts and pieces that would normally have to be purchased from a race part manufactures. Mike has been with the Forsberg's throughout Richard's days in super modifieds, his first sprint car in1980, Andy's first sprint car race in 1992 and as of 2010 still helping out the team any way he can. In 2003 Florie hired Andy to drive his Family Auto Service 98x with the GSC Series. Andy drove for Florie for three seasons, 03, 04 and 05. In '06 Florie had Sean Becker drive a few races and Andy drove the car at a few USAC shows at the PAS in Perris, CA at the end of '06. 2006 was the last year as a car owner for Florie, he sold his operation and got out of racing.
